Tour Details

The Tamang ethnic group – originally horse traders who immigrated from Tibet, settled here hundreds of years ago. The region, north of Kathmandu and adjacent to Tibet, is still quite original. Traditional villages, green landscapes, dense forests and the peaks of nearby Langtang make the Tamang Heritage Trail Tour an experience on some very lonely paths.

Combining well with the Langtang region, this tour is a good mix of culture, adventures and the fascination of Himalya with its snow capped mountains.

A spiritual place, because here is a popular place to meditate for the local lamas. Naghathali has beautiful views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal and Tibet. There are several options to customize the rest of the day. About 4 hours there and back you need to hike from here to Taruche (3700m) viewpoint. You can look far into Tibet. Of course Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung are also present here.

Day 11 Climbing the Tsergo Ri (4948m)

It is a long and not always easy way up to the summit. The last few meters, over large boulders, we fight our way to the summit of Tsergo Ri, meter by meter. Of course the hard way is rewarded as well. With magnificent views of one of the most beautiful natural areas that stretches along the Langtang Himal Range. On the way there is picking in a sheltered place.

Day 14Trekking to Shin Gumba (3250m)

Day 15 Trekking to Goisakunda (4380m)

The march was laborious until Laurebina, our lunch spot. On the way you have views of the Annapurna Range, Ganesh Himal and Manaslu. Once a year in August, to Janina Purna, hundreds of Hindu Brahman pilgrims arrive and celebrate the holy cleansing at Lake Goisakunda at full moon.

With good visibility, we get views on the Annapurna chain and the Dhaulagiri. Deep down you look at the holy lakes. What a panorama.

From here you have the opportunity to extend the tour and walk over the Laurebina Pass (4610m) to Ghopte and on to the Helambu. Talk to us, you should consider this possibility.

Day 19On discovery in Kathmandu

After quiet days in the mountains, Kathmandu welcomes you with its unique, not always quiet, charm. Explore the city, it’s worth it! Whether the King’s Square (Durbar Squaere), with its many temples and the living goddess Kumari, the largest stupa outside Tibet in Boudha, the populated by many monkeys Swayambunath high above the city and not least one of the holiest Hindu places – the Pashupatinath Temple with the extraordinary public burnings of the dead Hindus – the city lives from the people, their traditions and the many sights.

We are also happy to offer you a guided city tour. A small outline of the tour can be found here ….
