The Nar Phu trekking tour is a real adventure hike in the middle of a deeply Buddhist area. As memorable as it is spectacular.

Far away from trodden paths in pristine valleys, you will find remote places with Tibetan influences and inhabitants still practicing the ancient customs.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu

We look forward to welcoming you at the airport and accompany you to the hotel. After the first, certainly adventurous impressions during the journey, you will get to know your guide at the hotel. During a relaxed get-together, we discuss the details of your Nar Phu trekking tour.

Day 2Drive to Besisahar & Trek to Ngadi (900m)

We leave Kathmandu by car and make our way to quieter areas, Besisahar. From here we venture the adventure jeep jeep and the ride is a bit more difficult on the gravel road to Bhule Bhule. But now it’s finally a short walk to Ngadi on.

Day 3Trekking to Jagat (1330m)

Through lush green landscapes, along the roaring river, we hike through the beautiful Marshyangdi Valley. Typically Nepalese – also called Nepal Flat – the way goes up and down again and again. That can be pretty sweaty. You will be richly rewarded by the magical view of the river that meanders through the valley below.

Day 4Trekking to Dharapani (1860m)

Deeper and deeper we penetrate into the beautiful valley. Unmistakably we come in area which is inhabited by Buddhists. Many chortens and waving prayer flags line the paths. On the paths to the small settlements Dharapani views open to 8000’ter Manaslu.

Day 5Trekking to Kodo (2590m)

Through oak and rhododendron forests, peppered with many prayer flags and chorten, we gradually start our trekking day. We see many beautiful waterfalls on the way. For a lunch break in Timang, there is a deliciously freshly cooked food and best views of Manaslu, Peak 29 and Himalchuli. The small Gurung place is the starting point in the still unknown Nar Phu valley.

Day 6Trekking to Meta (3550m)

Our first long trekking day in the Nar Phu valley lies ahead. That’s why we start the day very early. We leave Annapurna’s main route and cross the Marsyaghdi River towards Nar Phu Valley through a narrow ravine. Gorgeous and dense forests are our way companion until the last stage of the day the valley opens and we climb a last steeper section.

Day 7Trekking to Kyang (3840m)

Many ascents and descents await us today. With fantastic views of Lamjung, Pisang Peak and Annapurna II is not a long time. Colorful Manisteine ​​and Chorten, which are known for the Nar Phu Valley, line our way through the deeply Tibetan area into the small Khampa settlement Kyang.

Day 8Trekking to Phu (4050m)

During our hiking tour, the path initially leads us through a picturesque gorge and heads steeply up to the entrance to one of the most remote villages in the Himalayas. It is said that more than 900 years ago the first settlers settled here. Even today, we meet again and again small chorten which are known for this area.

Day 9 Time out in Phu or Trip to Himlung base camp

You decide – relax a day in Phu and get to know the lifestyle of the residents with their traditional lifestyle. But also, a not far away old Bon monastery is worth to look at. A slightly longer day trip to the Himlung – or Ratnachuli base camp would be possible. (about 8 hours) Whatever you choose, surely all options have something good to offer.

Day 10Trekking to Nar Phedi (3540m)

Almost always down on well-known trails we hike back, first to Kyang. Later, after crossing a ravine over a thundering river on a suspension bridge, a steep climb of about an hour follows. with the best views of the surrounding mountains. We have the opportunity to spend the night in the Nar Phedi Monastery today.

Day 11 Trekking to Nar (4150m)

We begin our trek with a gradual climb, which also has quite steep sections, uphill towards Nar. An honor-free stage, which, however, with over 600 meters of altitude must first be met before we come today to the picturesque village of Nar with its built in Tibetan style cottage.

Day 12Trekking to Ngawal (3650m) via Kangla Pass (5320m)

It starts pretty early, just after dawn, when it has become light. We make our way over the mostly snow-covered Khangla Pass. Before you can take a look at the spectacular Annapurna group, a long march, not always easy, is necessary. 800 meters of altitude have to be mastered before the fantastic view from the summit can be perceived. A break to enjoy and relax and then it goes on, mostly steeply downhill to Nagawal. If we can not make it to Ngawal today or if the weather does not play along, then we spend the night camping in the tent.

Day 13Trekking to Manang (3540m) via Braga

At the end of the day you can finally look forward to more “civilization”. Manang has more amenities than the past few days. Along a beautiful panoramic path we reach the small, still very old place Braga with its monastery. Here we stop for a visit, before we finally walk the last short distance to Manang.

Info: From Manang it is also possible to join the Annapurna round andhikeacross the Thorong La Pass into the Kali Gendaki valley. Or to go to Tilicho Lake. We are happy to put together a suitable tour for you.
