Tour Details

Would you like to stand on a 5000’th in the middle of the Himalayas? The feeling of having grown beyond yourself and being one with nature? Would you like to visit the Nepalese mountain folk and see how the old traditions are still lived?
This trekking region near the Tibetan border boasts huge glaciers, rhododendron forests, crystal clear lakes, snow capped mountains and, last but not least, its clumps of small, traditional villages inhabited mostly by the Tamang hill tribe. Experience breathtaking views of the glaciers of the Himalayas and be a guest of this warm, hospitable people. I myself have been on this tour several times and can assure you of one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Nepal.

A special highlight is the spring during the rhododendron bloom.

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu

We pick you up from the airport and accompany you to the hotel. In the evening, during a small dinner, you will make the acquaintance of your tour guide with the opportunity to discuss details.

Overnight at the hotel (A)

Day 2Free day in Kathmandu

Kathmandu has lost none of its charm. The city with its many temples and pagodas has plenty to offer in terms of culture. A pleasure, this bustling, the hospitable Nepalese. Optionally, you have the opportunity to book a guided, also German-speaking, city sightseeing.

Overnight at the hotel (F)

Day 3Drive to Syabru Besi

We start with the private jeep in the direction of Syabru Besi, the starting point of the tour, which we reach depending on the traffic situation in about 6 hours. Of course we stop for a small lunch break.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D)

Day 4Trekking to Lama Hotel (2440m)

Slightly uphill along the Langtang River, we hike to the start through wooded area in Langtang National Park. The Red Panda are located here. It takes a bit of luck, but maybe you get the chance to watch one of the very rare animals.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 6 hours

Day 5 Trekking to Langtang (3330m)

The dominating and imposing Langtang Lirung (7225m) gradually moves into your field of vision. Dense rhododendron forests that bloom in spring in so many different colors, traverse before the valley opens and the path runs along pastures and meadows.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 6 hours

Day 6 Trekking to Kyanjing Gumba (3730m)

A day that is rather leisurely. In Kyanching Gumba, nestled in a basin of numerous snow-capped mountains, we arrive at lunchtime. We use the afternoon for a trip to the Lirung Glacier. As a deliberate side effect this also serves the better acclimatization to the height. Unfortunately, the impressive monastery of Kyanjing Gumba was severely destroyed during the earthquake. But worth the short way there.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 4 hours (without excursion to the glacier)

Day 7Climbing the Tsergo Ri (4948m)

A long, not always easy way up, the last few meters over large boulders, so we fight our way to the summit of Tsergo Ri meter by meter. Of course the hard way is rewarded as well. With magnificent views of one of the most beautiful natural areas that stretches along the Langtang Himal Range. On the way there is picking in a sheltered place.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 7 to 8 hours

Day 8 Trekking to Lama Hotel (2440m)

On well-known paths, a very long way, straight out and downhill, we are facing today. In the spring, the rhododendron forests, which we also pass through, radiate in the most beautiful colors.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 9 hours

Day 9 Trekking to Thulo Shapru (2210)

First down the valley, the path leads us to the end of the day steeply uphill, through the elongated, located on a hillside village. Before we reach the terraced fields of Thulo Shapru, we cross a long suspension bridge.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 6 hours

Day 10Trekking to Shin Gumba (3250m)

Over mountain meadows and mystically acting dense forest it goes ahead steeply. The well-deserved lunch break in a clearing with a view to Tibet, makes the further way seem easier to the charming place Shin Gumba with the small monastery and a Yak cheese factory. Be sure to try!

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 6 hours

Day 11Trekking to Goisakunda (4380m)

The march was laborious until Laurebina, our lunch spot. On the way you have views of the Annapurna Range, Ganesh Himal and Manaslu. On a sensational rock path, past one of the sacred lakes, we come to the probably most well-known pilgrim place in the region. Once a year in August, to Janina Purna, hundreds of Hindu Brahman pilgrims arrive and celebrate the holy cleansing at Lake Goisakunda at full moon.

Overnight in Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 8 hours

Day 12Climbs Surya Peak (5145m)

For the sporty, we climb today a 5000’ter. If you do not want to spend a whole day, the glacier lakes make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Early in the morning we march towards the summit with many breaks to relax and take pictures, which will be extremely worthwhile. With good visibility, we get views on the Annapurna chain and the Dhaulagiri. Deep down you look at the holy lakes. What a panorama.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 8 hours)

Day 13 Trekking to Shin Gumba (3250m)

The way to the lakes was worthwhile and we make our way back through the beautiful landscape to the small town of Shin Gumba. Here you have plenty of time to rest and relax.

Overnight Lodge (B / L / D) Hiking time approximately: 4 hours

Day 14Trekking to Dhunche (1960m) and drive to Kathmandu

Really steep we walk through dense forest downhill to Dhunche. There it goes by private jeep back to Kathmandu.

Overnight at hotel (B / L) Hiking time approximately: 6 hours

Day 15 Free day in Kathmandu
